Treacherous Orchestra - Origins (CD)

A turbo-charged twelve-piece plus guests supergroup comprising some of Scotland’s finest young          instrumentalists.

An album of rousing, high energy fusion work from the vibrant Scottish folk scene, influenced by rock as well as traditional Celtic styles.

Many of the group are also gifted composers, producers and engineers in their own right and 90% of the material is self-penned, with sophisticated musical arrangements.

Featuring members past and present of Croft No 5, Peatbog Faeries, Salsa Celtica, Session A9, Old Blind Dogs, Box Club and Back Of The Moon, The Treacherous Orchestra are influenced by pioneers such as Martyn Bennett, Shooglenifty, Wolfstone, Gordon Duncan… and Led Zeppelin.

Martyn Bennett - Aye (CD)

One of the most influential figures on the modern Folk scene, Martyn Bennett’s extraordinary music lives on.

Fine examples of his experiments with traditional and world music, rave culture, remixing and much more besides from this great Scots piper, who sadly passed away far too young.

A very informative accompanying booklet is included, giving an insight into this extraordinary talent.

“He was an enormously gifted, soulful, passionate, generous musician.” (Peter Gabriel).

“What brave new music.” (Hamish Henderson).

When he was awarded the gold badge of the English Folk Dance And Song Society in 2001, he decided to make a CD of some of the recordings from the past thirty odd years.

John McKissock - The Naked Mandolin (CD)

An album of new compositions for mandolin, charting the emotions of a man emigrating, leaving for a new life in a new land.

The pieces were written in Viladrau, Catalonia through the course of 2011 and are recorded “naked” – just John, his mandolin and a microphone.

John is intending to develop this work with more recordings, using the same pieces with a variety of different musicians and instruments in a four part creative project.
